Who is it for?
This course will provide a sound introduction for anyone who has volunteered to become a befriender.

What is about?
We will look at a wide range of aspects of befriending that will enable volunteers to enter their role with confidence and clarity. Based on accepted good practice models this course will look at.

- What is a befriender?
- The aims of befriending, and how this fits in with the project you are working for.
- Benefits of befriending for the befriendee
- Developing and maintaining rapport
- Roles, responsibilities and boundaries
- Confidentiality

What will I learn?
By the end of the course participants should be able to:
- Describe and explain their role as a befriender
- Identify the outcomes they hope to achieve through befriending.
- Know how to develop and maintain an interactive working relationship with their befriendee/s
- Be clear on the boundaries of befriending.
